WHY I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT A METAPHYSICAL APPROACH
1. Your body is not in disease or distress
simply because it wants to give you a bad day....
It is trying to tell you something ABOUT YOURSELF that needs YOUR
attention.
2. What I believe, I think about. What I think about with emotion, I create....... If you simply thought
about a lion tearing you apart, you most probably wouldn’t have any physical
response; but what if the lion actually walked up to you and stood a few meters
away, snarling and watching you, and there was no where for you to hide. The
lion hasn’t done anything to you yet but the thought of what is about to happen
is now charged with emotion.Fear has combined with thought
to create an automatic response in your body. Your bladder or bowel
could release; your breathing could change, or your skin become pale and
sweaty. As long as the lion remains unchallenged, your response may not
change. Every effort to calm the EFFECTS
may be of no use.
Take the CAUSE out of the
scenario by tranquilizing the lion and your bodily symptoms might well
dissipate quickly.
If fear can create such a
strong bodily change in only a few minutes, then is it not possible that other
emotions such as resentment, envy, hatred, anger or guilt could have a similar
effect when attached to thoughts over a long period of time, and create a
physical change within the body as well?
3.
Einstein said “You can’t solve a problem with the same mind that created
it.” Could Einstein have believed that
the mind is a vital component of creation?
4. The Law of Conservation of
Energy.... Energy can neither be created
nor destroyed, but merely changes from one form to another. This is one of the most fundamental and
unbreakable laws of physics and is supported by Einstein’s famous equation E=mc2. Energy and mass (matter) can change form
back and forth.
Therefore in my simplest
interpretation of this equation it is quite possible for suppressed or blocked
energy to change form into mass or matter.5. Chaos
precedes Order.... Ilya Prigogine was a Russian-born Belgian who
worked in the field of physical chemistry.
For his pioneering work in non-equilibrium thermodynamics, he was awarded
The Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1977.
Prigogine proved his hypothesis that order emerges not in spite of
chaos but because of it, that evolution and growth are the inevitable
product of open systems slipping into temporary chaos and then reorganizing at
higher levels of complexity. As humans,
we are part of the open system. Therefore WE MUST FALL INTO TEMPORARY CHAOS
before reorganizing at a higher level of complexity. How long the temporary chaos lasts, is up to
us.
Next time your feet hurt, your body is in
discomfort, unpleasant physical symptoms appear, and your life is in chaos,
take heart, you are reorganizing to a higher level of complexity.
WHAT ARE THE
METAPHYSICAL PARAMETERS I USE?
1. Parallel Anatomy and Physiology to a
metaphysical perspective
The more you understand the body and how it works,
the easier a metaphysical comparison will be.
Anatomy and Physiology may sound boring and hard work, but it is the key
to understanding the “What” of the discomfort.
Even knowing the basic A&P will serve you well and give you a
starting point.
- Nervous System INTERPERATES and COMMUNICATES. I always think of communication issues when a person presents with a problem related to the Nervous System. Are communications with someone breaking down. Are you interpreting what is being said by paying attention or hearing with your own agenda in mind.
- Skeletal System provides STRUCTURE. Is the person restructuring any part of their life? Has something crumbled and needs rebuilding?
- Muscles provide MOVEMENT and PULL AGAINST each other. Is the person moving freely in the direction of their choice? Are they being pulled in two directions at once? Do they have divided loyalties?
- Digestive System DISMANTLES THE COMPONENTS. It ABSORBS
what is useful and ELIMINATES what is not. Are you refusing to accept something? Are you holding on to something of no further use?
- Endocrine System works on NEGATIVE feedback. Once this system gets the message that levels are down it encourages the particular organ to produce its own hormones. Do you encourage others? Do you learn from negative feedback or see it as criticism? Are you a team player?
- Immune System sorts out the ENEMY. Do you over react at times to what is going on around you? Do you sometimes see yourself as the enemy? Are you self destructive?
- Respiratory System is about TAKING IN and GIVING OUT. Is your life in balance? Are you able to receive as well as give?
- Circulatory System is about FLOW. Blood delivers the nutrients and takes away to keepDo you let joy and happiness carry you through life? Do you feel you miss out on the life blood that keeps everyone else happy?
- Skin is your outermost BOUNDARY and what people see when
you are on SHOW. When you are pushing your boundaries and trying new experiences you might find your skin becomes a problem. When you are on show and feel every one is looking at you a skin issues could present itself.
Above is an overall picture, but you can break
each system down further, to find the specific role individual parts of the
body play.
- Tendons and Ligaments are CONNECTIVE tissue. How do you connect with others?
- Fat PROTECTS and keeps ORGANS in their place. Are you self conscious and shy and want to protect yourself? Are you rigid or stuck and feel you can't move?
- White bloods cells are an important part of the
body’s DEFENCE. Do you feel under attack? Do you feel someone is out to get you?
- Sinuses are a RESONANCE chamber for SPEECH. Are there thoughts going round and round in your head and you have little or not control over them?
Break down a specific symptom into to simple words
or listen to how the client describes it to you.
- Constipation - The body is holding on to SOMETHING OF NO
FURTHER USE
- Tumors - Cells have forgotten WHO THEY ARE AND WHERE THEY BELONG
- Psoriasis - Skin cells want to bypass the NORMAL PROCESS
2. Chakras and what they represent

- Crown
– logic or intuition; control or trust
- Third
Eye – a new perspective or fixed ideas; judging or allowing
- Throat
– creative expression or I can’t; speaking up or suppressing your words;
balance or extremes
- Heart
– love or hate, flow or blocks
- Solar
Plexus – my boundaries and rules or keeping others happy
- Sacral
– one on one relationships, power games, survival, sexuality, material
security
- Base
– My place in the tribe or group; where do I belong; how do I fit in
3. Specific energy of each toe in relation
to the elements
Each toe has its own energy therefore it has its
own polarity. The toes begin with the
spiritual ether at the big toe and move outwards to the grounded earth at the small toe.
- ETHER
oneness of creation
- AIR
thought and communication
- FIRE
spontaneous action and assertiveness
- WATER
emotions and feelings
- EARTH
grounding; gathering from above and putting what you have learned to work
for you in a practical way in your everyday life.
- Ether -
Big toe: Logic
(brain and mind) and intuition (3rd eye) which brings forth control
and trust issues.
- Air - 2nd
toe: Communication
and expression; expressing the innermost self with integrity, honesty and
honour or saying what others want to hear to keep them happy
- Fire -
3rd toe: Work;
do I do what I love or what I should do.
Do I exist or live?
- Water -
4th toe: Feelings;
how do I feel about myself, my self worth and self esteem; because how I feel
about myself defines how I relate to others.
- Earth -
5th toe: My
roots; where I came from, my origins, inherited patterns, unconscious
behaviour; my place in the group, the family tree, childhood, culture,
religion, beliefs.
4. Left and Right principle
- Left…..
feminine, female, women, being, unconscious, intuition, spiritual,
present, mother principle, nurturing
- Right…..
masculine, male, men, doing, conscious, logic, physical, past, father
principle, supply
5. Basic emotions in Traditional Chinese Medicine....... When the organs are the issue, I immediately think about the emotions they could be holding on to.
- Liver:
anger, resentment
- Kidneys:
fear, terror
- Lungs:
grief, guilt
- Heart:
joy, happiness
- Stomach:
worry, anxiety
6. The words the client uses
Listen intently.
They are telling you their problem.
Maybe not in the first 5 minutes, but as the session progresses, you
will get more of the story. The trick is
to be able to put it together.
7. Shape and texture of the foot
Observe the plantar surface of the foot.
- Notice
the ratio between the toes, the ball of foot, the arch and the heel.
- Is
there a balance in the structure?
- Are
there any calluses or blisters?
What reflexes are they protecting?
- Is
the arch and instep high of flat?
- Do
the toes pull back tightly so that the tendons protrude?
- Are
the toes curled under?
8. Who and what shows up in my life is a part of
me
Like attracts like.
I am attracting to myself that part of me which needs my attention.
Every client and every symptom that show up in my
clinic are a part of me that needs my attention. Not always a negative part of me to be healed
but also a positive part of me to be acknowledged and respected.
Clients, and everyone else in my life, are drawing
my attention to something about myself.
I can refuse to see this and insist that the problem is theirs, or I can
search within myself until I discover what they are trying to help me
find.
9. I am responsible
On some level of my consciousness I have allowed,
created or drawn to myself everything that is happening in my life. If I try to understand it from a purely
physical level, nothing makes sense.
Life can be cruel with no mercy.
But there is a much bigger picture which I may not be able to see at the
moment. Imagine….
- If you stand outside your house, you can see up and
down the street.
- If you stand on top of a tall building, you can see
the city.
- If you fly in a plane you can see the vast country
side.
- If you fly into space, you can see the earth in its
entirely.
There is always a bigger picture and the further you
are removed from the specific, the clearer the picture becomes.
The presentation went on to discuss case studies from the perspective of my metaphysical beliefs and parameters.
I can't necessarily
prove that all of what I believe is true. The Universe has Laws but no
rules. Therefore I am able to make them up for myself. So when I say
to the Universe I believe a certain thing. It relates to me within
that parameter. I know that as I have put the above beliefs into
practice, I have seen some amazing changes within myself and some of
the people whose feet I have worked on. Could I encourage you to look
further than the obvious and explore all the possibilities that are
awaiting you.
